A Night of a Thousand Horror (Shows)/A 1000 Crossover
I will admit I was a little disappointed
by Demon Prince Enma, but because
there was a lot of promise here still worth seeing. This is an adaptation of a Go Nagai work which has varied in tone
over the decades, from morbid but family friendly kids show to lewd
reinterpretations, taken seriously in a favourite trope of mine, supernatural
figures having to deal with cases of the week, which has the interesting take
that these figures baring the kappa are mostly clueless to the modern world. It
also helps this has Mamoru Kanbe in the director's seat, an unsung figure for
horror anime where, even if you do not like them all, he has made interesting
work from the best of this to Elfen Lied
(2004) in the genre for anime, and this has enough to further that opinion
of mine. My disappointment comes, ironically, from when this tries in a short
time scale to be a complete narrative. For the full review, follow the blog
