Today, returning to the 1000 Anime blog, is a real curiosity, especially as most will likely know this franchise, is anyone, from a videogame tie-in for the Sony Playstation 2 which became a cult hit if only ever released in Europe and Japan. Many, as I once did, were not aware it was a tie-in, as this review covers all three of the micro-series and the final spin-off. Think of this as a Japanese CGI anime television series whose veneer looks cute, of little box humanoids, if (mostly) depicted in a hotel for those in purgatory. With very adult themes and a sick sense of humour, including a lot of existentialism about adult work life, this work's source create Naomi Iwata befittingly worked on a 2010s adaptation of Pingu, the beloved claymation penguin some British readers (and others around the world) grew up with.
