A Night of a Thousand Horror (Movies) #241 / A 1000 Anime Crossover

We continue this year's Halloween with one of the many crossovers to my other blog devoted to Japanese animation, as horror anime as a concept is not as prolific as you might think until later decades, for those readers who have never read the blog or know little of anime, but has enough curiosities to uncover. We will be looking at a few this year.

This particular one is a curiosity in the truest sense - some may be very well aware, in the world of videogames, of the Persona franchise, which in the review linked to below will explain how this curious tale, of demons being summoned in a high school computer, is directly connected to that popular franchise in a very long family tree. It will also start a trend likely to be covered in the reviews on the anime blog - the obsession with stark colours for scenes like purples and dark blues, which I am not complaining about as aesthetic is one of the biggest reasons to cover horror anime as much as their idiosyncratic tones. Also a lot of luridness, and some curious genre-hybrids in terms of what anime does with horror.

And yes, anyone thinking of Evilspeak (1981), a horror film starring Clint Howard, that is referenced to as that did come to mind through this forty plus anime work too. That reference, for those who do not know the horror film in question, will also be explained.
